Robin Ruhmel is the proprietor and lead designer of The Design Studio at HoudenHAL.  Robin has over 30 years of experience in designing homes and their finishes.  Regardless of your desired look, her expertise can help get your vision realized. 

The What.

We have assembled, and continue to add constantly, the best that Green design has to offer.  At the Design Studio, the cork, bamboo, FSC hardwoods, recycled and reclaimed materials so highly utilized on top television design shows, jump off your LED pixels and come to life to fully experience.  If you are building, remodeling, or just picking away at projects on your own, we can help you find the right product and facilitate it with you on any level.

The Why

Maybe this should have been first.  As a full service brick and mortar company we offer expertise and service you simply cannot get from internet only businesses.  The value becomes clear when you are able to physically see the products and get the guidance only years in the industry can give you.  Let us be clear - you can get these products on internet only sites cheaper.  The caveat that comes along with that is many times the manufacturer warranties are not valid.  If a few pennies is more important than service and warranty then we wish you well.

The Where

HoudenHAL (roughly defined at Sustainable Home in Dutch) is a LEED Silver Certified model home for Ruhmel Contracting, Inc. As the birthplace of The Design Studio, HoudenHAL is becoming a destination location for Eco-Philes to see exactly how Green and Sustainable design can blend with Building Science to create the house of tomorrow that can be the house of right now.
